World Venture's Senegal team is currently involved in church planting among the rural Serere and urban populations, translation of the Bible into Wolof, leadership training through the Evangelical Theological Institute of Senegal, evangelism and discipleship, and provision of leadership and staff at the Dakar Academy, a school for missionary children.
We pray to be used of God to help youth 1) know Jesus Christ personally; 2) love Him intimately; and 3) serve Him faithfully.
Join us in praying ambitiously according to Ephesians 3:19-20 and John 15:16 that 100% of Dakar Academy students would walk with Jesus Christ and serve Him in whatever they choose to do with their lives. We also ask God to bring all of our neighbors to Himself as Savior and Lord.
We are living and ministering in a country in which at least 96% of the population worship another world religion. While there is openness and freedom to share, there is also a tremendous spiritual battle going on here. So we face overt spiritual warfare on a regular basis. Thankfully, this has caused us to lean heavily on the Lord and grow in our convictions about our authority in Christ and His desire to minister through us by His Word and His power.
We work with missionary kids and international kids from about 35 different countries in grades K-12 at Dakar Academy. We also serve in relationships with many of our friends and neighbors who live in the neighborhood around us.
The Floyd family are partners with Pioneers. Pioneers' passion has been to see God glorified among those who are physically and spiritually isolated from the gospel of Jesus Christ—from Muslim bedouins in the deserts of North Africa and animist villagers in the jungles of South America to secular humanists in Eastern Europe and middle-class Buddhist urbanites in the sprawling cities of East Asia.
Mike and Lori are a part of the Church Planting Movement (CPM) where they identify non-believers who are seeking spiritual truth. From there, they are discipled to a point of decision through a Bible study, in which they learn to go to the scripture for the answers they seek. After a decision of faith, the new believer is immediately taught to share what they have learned with others who can continue the cycle. With this reproducible method of sharing the gospel and planting house-churches, whole communities can be transformed by the power of the Spirit.
The specific location they serve is in NE Thailand, a country of approximately 67 million people. It is approximately 200,000 sq miles, and is the 50th largest country in the world, most nearly equal in size to Spain. Thailand has a tropical climate and temperatures . 95% of the Thai people are practitioners of Theravada Buddhism, the official religion of Thailand and religious tolerance is both customary in Thailand and protected by the constitution. The Thai people are very respectful of the religious beliefs of others. Because of this Mike and Lori are able to discuss the Gospel freely with the Isaan people and work with them to plant churches led by Isaan pastors and leaders. Please join us in pray for their continuing success in reaching the Isaan people and join us in praise because just recently they baptized 15 new believers and have 13 others that were not able to come due to the tapioca harvest but will be baptized soon.
